Professional Development Programme - on Workplace Ethics (March 15, 2025)

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy (KPJA) successfully conducted a one-day Professional Development Programme on Workplace Ethics, designed to enhance professional conduct among staff members of the Peshawar High Court and KPJA. A total of 30 participants, equally representing both institutions, took part in the training.

The program was inaugurated by Mr. Jehanzeb Shinwari, Director General, KPJA, who underscored the significance of continuous professional development in fostering an ethical and efficient judicial system. He emphasized that ethical workplace behavior not only strengthens institutional integrity but also contributes to a fair and reputable judiciary. Throughout the training, participants explored key aspects of workplace ethics, including punctuality, adherence to professional dress codes, respectful communication, gender sensitivity, inclusivity, and the importance of maintaining a positive and professional demeanor. The sessions also focused on developing office etiquette and interpersonal skills, reinforcing the need for respectful and professional interactions with colleagues, stakeholders, and visitors to enhance public perception and create a supportive work environment.

The training featured expert-led discussions covering various dimensions of workplace ethics. Mr. Lal Shad, Director IT, KPJA, initiated the discourse with a session on the religious perspective of workplace ethics. His presentation was followed by Mr. Shahab Faheem, Civil Judge, Bajaur, who elaborated on conduct and discipline within professional settings. Mr. Zia ul Hassan, Senior Civil Judge, Khyber, provided a detailed discussion on etiquettes and mannerisms, highlighting their role in fostering professionalism. The final session was conducted by Ms. Rakhshanda Naz, KP Ombudsperson, who addressed the crucial topic of gender sensitivity and protection against harassment in the workplace, emphasizing the importance of creating a safe and inclusive work environment.

The program concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony, where Mr. Jehanzeb Shinwari acknowledged the participants’ commitment to professional growth. His closing remarks reinforced the idea that workplace ethics form the foundation of a just and responsible judicial system, and continuous learning in this domain remains essential for institutional excellence.
