Karak:
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy successfully conducted its first-ever Professional Development Course for Young Lawyers at its Southern Campus, Karak, from February 10 to 12, 2026, marking a historic milestone in extending structured judicial training to the southern districts of the province.
The three-day course, attended by 30 young lawyers of District Karak, was organized under the theme of Professionalism, Excellence and Diversity and aimed at strengthening legal skills, ethical standards, and professional competence of emerging members of the Bar.
Inaugural Ceremony – Day 1
The inaugural session was chaired by Syed Yasir Shabbir, District & Sessions Judge (DSJ) Karak.
Ahmed Farooq Khattak, Vice Chairman Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council, addressed the participants, emphasizing the importance of continuing legal education, professional ethics, and practical skill development for young lawyers. The President and representatives of the District Bar Association Karak were also present.
In his address, Syed Yasir Shabbir highlighted the significance of discipline, courtroom decorum, and ethical responsibility in strengthening the justice system.
Day-1 Academic Sessions
Academic proceedings began with a detailed session on Legal & Professional Ethics, including important provisions of the Legal Practitioners and Bar Councils Act & Rules, courtroom conduct, and professional responsibility. The session was led exclusively by DSJ Karak.
He also conducted a practical session on Legal Drafting, focusing on common mistakes in pleadings and court documents.
Later, Aftab Javed, Senior Civil Judge Karak, delivered an orientation on Family Laws, followed by a session on Pre-Trial Scrutiny (cause of action, jurisdiction, limitation) by Wajid Ali, Director Instructions-III, KPJA.
Day-2 Academic Sessions
The second day commenced with recitation from the Holy Quran and a feedback session.
Aziz Ahmed, Senior Civil Judge Karak, conducted a session on Interlocutory Orders, covering temporary injunctions, amendment of pleadings, and appointment of commission.
This was followed by a lecture on Appeal & Revision (CPC & CrPC) by Javed Akhtar, Advocate High Court.
An informative session on important revenue documents was delivered by Amanullah Khan, Advocate Supreme Court, highlighting their relevance in civil litigation and land disputes.
The day concluded with an orientation on Judicial Service and Competitive Examinations by Kamal Fareed Tanoli, Additional District Judge Kohat, guiding participants on preparation strategies and career prospects in the judiciary.
Day-3 Academic Sessions & Concluding Ceremony
The final day began with feedback from participants, followed by a session on Civil Case Management: Theory & Practice conducted by DSJ Karak Syed Yasir Shabbir.
Subsequently, Jehanzeb Shinwari, Director General KPJA, delivered a comprehensive lecture on Pre-Trial Criminal Proceedings, covering remand, discharge, bail, statement under Section 164 CrPC, and plea of guilt/confession.
The last academic session on Fundamentals of Evidence — including burden of proof, leading questions, cross-examination techniques, and objections — was conducted by Ahmed Iftikhar, Dean Faculty KPJA.
Tree Plantation & Concluding Ceremony
DG KPJA Mr. Jehanzeb Shinwari planted a tree in the premises of the Southern Campus, symbolizing growth, sustainability, and the nurturing of professional excellence. DSJ Karak Syed Yasir Shabbir and a representative of the District Bar Association Karak were present on the occasion.
In his concluding address, the Director General appreciated the active participation of young lawyers and reaffirmed KPJA’s commitment to continuous professional development across the province.
The initiative stands as a significant step toward strengthening the Bench–Bar relationship and enhancing the quality of legal practice in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
