Mr. Justice (Rtd) Riaz Ahmad was born in 1952. After completing doing his M.A (political Science) and LL.B from University of Peshawar, he passed CSS Examination and joined Civil Service of Pakistan in Railways group. Thereafter, he passed PCS (Judicial) Examination in 1983 and switched over to judicial service of NWFP (now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) as Civil Judge. After being promoted as Senior Civil Judge, he decided to quit the service and accordingly resigned from judicial service in 1990.
He joined the bar as a lawyer the same year. He had been Deputy Prosecutor-General, NAB (NWFP) for some time. He had also served this province as Assistant Advocate-General. He was elevated as Judge of Islamabad High Court in 2010. After retirement, he was appointed as Judge, Federal Shariat Court of Pakistan. Consequently, he retired as Chief Justice, FSC in May 2017. He is currently Advocate Supreme Court of Pakistan.
He is visiting Faculty Member of Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad.
He takes keen interest in academic activities.
